Cardiff Devils vs Kingston Kestrels

We’re now just over six weeks into the 2014 Planet Ice Sledge Hockey season, and we’ve had the first three games - with each one of the four teams playing at least once so far.
The season started with Manchester Phoenix heading to Hull to play the Kingston Kestrels at home. With a lot of new players on both teams, it was the first real opportunity many of them had to experience the speed and excitement of a competitive game.
While the final score of 7-1 favoured Kingston, it was clear that all of the players had a fantastic game and it was a great start to the season.
The second game saw the newest team in the league - Cardiff Devils - coming face-to-face with last year’s champions, Peterborough Phantoms. Almost all of the Cardiff players are new to the sport of Sledge Hockey, so for them to face Peterborough as their first game was always going to be a challenge. But they fought hard and even if they were disappointed with the 8-0 final score, everyone else involved was impressed with how far they’d come in such a short time.
Last weekend’s game was the first home game for Cardiff, this time they were visited by the Kingston Kestrels. With Kingston getting their second win of the new season - the final score was 14-0 - they moved into first place in the league standings.
But it’s unlikely that Kingston will find the back of the net quite so often in their next game on 7th June. They are travelling down to Peterborough to face their biggest rivals on home-ice. Face off is at 4:15pm at Peterborough Planet Ice Arena, 1 Mallard Road, Peterborough, PE3 8YN. It’s COMPLETELY FREE to come and watch, so just come on down and cheer on the teams!
If you were at any of the games, or are planning to go watch Peterborough and Kingston, don’t forget to tweet us @SledgeHockey and let us know!
