January 2006
GB beat sweden for the first time in 25 years. In a series of three games GB won the first 3 - 2, with one of the goals marking David Frenchs first international goal. GB drew against Sweden (who are ranked third in the World) in the second game with both teams scoring 4 apiece. An injury hit GB squad lost 5 -3 in the third game, which was noteable for the introduction of Matt Lloyd in net for the third period, with Matt only allowing the puck to enter his net once. The GB Sledge Hockey team to compete at the Paralympics is announced; Berry, Briggs, Farmer, French, Hall, Nicholson, Saunders, Thomas, Vaughan, Warner, Whitehead, Willey. The offical BPA press release can be read here.

Team GB qualified for the 2006 Paralympics by drawing with the Czech Republic 0 - 0. GB dominated the game, with their focus set on defense. GB topped the qualfication table with 5 points.

South Korea won their first game beating Italy 6 - 0.

GB provided a shock to the Paralympic Qualifiers in Turin, beating the Estonians 1 - 0. The score line did not reflect the game with Team GB dominating the game.

GB beat South Korea 3 - 1. There were a high number of penalties by both side which did not reflect the good natured way in which the game was played.

GB beat Italy in a challenge game 2 - 0. The game was notably as the first with Kevin Whiteman as GB Coach. Mr. Whiteman gave debuts to David French and Matt Lloyd.

Canada's national Paralympic Sledge Hockey Team narrowed down to seventeen players. These 17 will be reduced to the Paralympic squad of 15 prior to the Paralympic's. Full story can be found at Canadian Paralympic Committee web site.

England beat Wales 12-10 in Cardiff. In a closely fought, high scoring game, Nathan Stephens underlined his world class potential by scoring nine of the Welsh goals. Lloyd Woodyatt was the Welsh teams man of the match, with GB Captain, Ian Warner being the English man of the match. Game information provided by J.Coates.

Kingston Kestrels have beat Hull arena staff in a charity game 9 - 3. The game allowed a number of new players to make their Kestrels debut and allowed seasoned campaigners to prove their worth.

A downbeat Great British team return from the European Championships in the Czech Republic. Despite having a fantastic 9-0 win against Italy, defeats to Germany, Czech Republic and Germany resulted in GB finishing a disappointing 5th.
